Understanding Our Resistance to Ease

"We are living in this collective time where we've shifted from the hustle culture going a thousand miles an hour and rest being for the weary to having an uptick of wellness practices and trends." Yet research shows most senior leaders battle overwhelm and burnout.  Although "individuals with a relaxed nervous system exhibit improved decision making abilities.” we resist ease because busyness is equated with worth. This comes at great cost to wisdom and fulfillment.

What Embracing Ease Really Means

I define ease as “alignment, bringing us a sentiment of inner peace” plus presence, comfort, intentional preparation, freedom from worry, coherence and opening to abundance. As I’ve learned, “ease really means how are you living in alignment? And how are you trusting your brilliance, your genius, your story?

How to Embrace Ease

Over 12 years, I’ve redefined ease through three-year chapters, moving between alignment and preparing to show up as my future self. This ongoing evolution highlights that “Embracing ease isn’t easy. But it is necessary.”

It’s time to take what you learned from my story and turn insight into action. Click on each dropdown for an intention and action to bring start embracing ease:

  • Intention: Let go of frustration about uncontrollable things this week.

Action: When stressed, ask “Can I control this?” Breathe and refocus energy on myself.

  • Intention: Embrace contentment with who I am, detached from external validations.

Action: Reflect on one aspect of my life where I can let go of attachment to titles or achievements, creating space for a more authentic sense of self.

  • Intention: Welcome abundance beyond what I can now imagine.

Action: Ask yourself and identify what is one small change I can make today to embrace more ease?
